Do you want to be part of sharing the incredible work of law enforcement in the United States? Could you give just a few hours of your time?

We are very excited to recruit new Docents to join our incredible team! We began our journey of honoring police officers over sixty years ago and are still going strong. We invite you to join us!

What is a Docent? A docent is a volunteer educator! Museum docents should have an interest in supporting law enforcement officers, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn. No experience is necessary – we will teach you everything you need to know.

Top 5 reasons to become a docent

  • You support our Law Enforcement Officers  Becoming a docent at the APHF® is a wonderful way to support our officers – teaching about the history and various aspects of law enforcement!
  • You love to learn Docents have the opportunity to learn about the Museum’s collection, special exhibits and history during docent training.  Docents will be giving guided tours and assisting with special events.
  • Giving back to your community  Docents bridge the gap between law enforcement and our visitors, helping local and global visitors to get excited about supporting these brave men and women!
  • You love to talk  Not only do docents teach, but they also engage in conversations with visitors of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures about the importance of supporting our officers.
  • You love to make new friends  You will become part of an important group of people with similar interests as yourself – supporting officers and encouraging our visitors to do the same.  Make new and lasting friendships by interacting with people who share your interests and participating in the social opportunities available to you through becoming at docent at APHF®.

Docents will be an essential part of the Museum family and will give back in so many special ways. If you are interested in applying or know someone interested, please get in touch with Penny Thomas at pennyt@aphf.org for information and an application.

We are accepting applications and look forward to meeting you! Docent training consists of two three-hour sessions. After completing it, you will receive 25% off purchases in our Gift Shop and free membership to our Shooting Center!

What is required of a docent

  • No experience necessary – we will train you.
